One canvas, two million pixels, and everyone drawing on it at once. There is not much to say beyond: make something good, and look after what other people have made.
Geometric patterns, calligraphy, a mosque façade, your name, a tree, a cat. There is no approved list. If it is beautiful or funny or strange or just yours, it belongs here.
Work in the Islamic and Arabic traditions is what this canvas was built for, and it is what the palette was chosen for — the blues and turquoises of Iznik tile, the greens and ochres of zellige. Eight-fold stars and kufic script sit on a pixel grid as though they were designed for it, because in a sense they were. If you have never tried, this is a good place to.
The one thing that genuinely ruins a canvas like this is people painting over things other people spent hours on. Find your own space — there is a great deal of it — or ask before you build on top of someone.
Adding to something, tidying its edges, finishing a piece somebody started: all welcome. That is the whole point of drawing together.
Nothing obscene, nothing hateful, nothing designed to upset people. Out of respect for the community this canvas is named for, please do not draw the prophets or their companions.
You know the difference between mischief and cruelty. Stay on the right side of it.
There is a pause between pixels, the same for everyone. It is not there to annoy you — it is what stops one person with a fast mouse repainting the entire canvas in an afternoon. It is why anything survives here at all.
Offensive work gets removed and can be rolled back to how it looked before. Accounts that keep at it lose the ability to place pixels.
